 The New Romantix was lousy all around. At the start, there was no close-captioned option or language option; during, there was no story line; and at the end, it just … well … stopped abruptly. Worse, this film just wasn’t hot. The fake pursed-lip thing (creepy and funny at the same time) done by most actresses, un-lubed anal sex, cum-shots, disjointed sex scenes, and a lack of condoms (we saw one) are reminiscent of typical guy porn, rather than of activities engaged in by empowered, adult, sexually active and aware women. Heavily tattooed, and apparently gum-chewing, actresses stumbled through dialogue filled with phrases such as ”like, you know, I don’t know” (sorry, that “sentence” doesn’t mean anything to me) as they attempted to describe drunk, stoned groupie sex - this is “A Sex-Positive Film”? (Their label, not mine.) Viewers at our screening had limp dicks and dry pussies during this movie, much of which was fast-forwarded through due to boredom.
